Instructor: Casey Cheuvront Date: Sunday, January 26th Time: 11:00 am - 4:00 pm Class Description: Join artist Casey Cheuvront in this water media intuitive abstract. This class will provide beginners to experienced painters with an opportunity to explore abstract design. You may bring anything that you have from home that you think you might wish to use. Water media only, no oils, please. We will focus on Mark making, subtractive and additive techniques, line work, color, focal point and composition. Class Fee: $125 Materials Fee: Optional $50 fee to be paid directly to the instructor. Intuitive Abstract Materials List You may wish to consider pooling resources with another student – e.g. sharing gouache splitting a watercolor block, etc. Watercolor block of your choice, square preferred Fluid brand is fairly affordable and works) or preferred your choice of paper. (I used to use 16” square for this type of work but it’s virtually unavailable these days; some people prefer to work smaller; 10x10 or 8x8 is as small as I would go; I would not go much larger than 16x16 for this workshop.) Mat to fit your paper Watercolor paints in your usual palette Titanium white designer gouache (traditional, not acrylic) Lamp black or Ivory black watercolor and/or designer gouache Black Pilot Precise V5 rolling ball ink pen (or other water-soluble pen of your choice; I get these Pilots at Target or office supply shops or Amazon) Micron archival waterproof pen (or similar type pen of your choice) 03 or larger Watercolor brushes in assorted sizes Mixing tray Spray bottle Paper towels/rags Alcohol (as in rubbing, not drinking!) Salt Other things you might want to bring: Charcoal Pastels (soft) Watercolor makers, crayons, pencils Pencils Cold wax Texturizing materials (use your imagination! e.g. stamps, crumpled paper, plastic, stencils…) Alcohol inks Acrylics Additional gouache colors Metallic paints and pens Additional ink pens Additional brushes (e.g. for acrylic paints) Additional mark-making tools – brayers, scrapers, etc. Class Minimum: 5 students (this class must have at least 5 students enrolled, or the class will be canceled/rescheduled) Class Maximum: 15 students All students must be 18+ to attend this class You may want to bring a drink, snack/lunch to class.
